SDI (Scuba Diving International)

SDI is internationally recognized and is one of the newest scuba training agencies. In 1994, TDI, Technical Diving International, was created to be the first of its kind to offer technical diving training to recreational divers. They focused on mixed gas and rebreather training as well as cave and wreck diving. In 1998, membership had grown and the demand for creating a sport diving division was so great that SDI was born. Like TDI, SDI was the first agency to require the use of a personal dive computer by all divers during every dive. SDI was also the first training agency to do eLearning for dive education. In 2000, public safety diving was in greater demand and ERDI, Emergency Response Diving International, was created.

In 2004, the company was sold to a group of investors who quickly expanded the offerings of the company. They applied for and received acceptance to the RSTC, Recreational Scuba Training Council, and the EUF, European Underwater Federation.
